Home arrow NAS arrow NAS Charts

This test measures the average filesystem performance of NASes at the Ethernet connection speed and mode described in the chart title.

  • represent results using this test procedure.
  • represent results using this newer test procedure.
  • represent results that are limited to approximately 70 MB/s maximum (when using a Gigabit Ethernet LAN connection) by the older test bed.
  • represent results with iozone running on a Dell Inspiron 1000 notebook with 2.2 GHz Intel Mobile Celeron, w/ 320 MB RAM running Windows XP Home.

NOTE! Only tests with the same color bars are directly comparable!

NOTE: The maximum raw data rate for 100Mbps Ethernet is 12.5 MBytes/sec and 125 MBytes/sec for gigabit Ethernet. Throughput above these values is due to memory caching effects in the client OS and NAS under test.

How to Use These Charts

  • NewMousing over a bar will show the lowest product price. Clicking the bar will show all other prices.New
  • Clicking on the product description will take you to the related review.
  • Feature/spec details for up to four products can be obtained by checking the boxes to the right of the desired products and clicking the Compare Features buttton.
  • Comparative Performance (Throughput) vs. filesize line charts can be obtained for up to six products by checking the boxes to the right of the desired products and clicking the Throughput vs. Filesize buttton.

See this article for advice on how to choose a NAS.
