Will a better antenna decrease microwave/cordless telephone interference with my 802.11b/g network?

An antenna can help increase your range, but it won't do much to decrease interference from microwave ovens and 2.4GHz phones. This is because they operate in the same frequency as the 802.11b/g devices. An antenna that increases the sensitivity of your 802.11b/g radios will also increase its sensitivity to anything that operates in the same frequency band.

The alternatives you have are:

Move the Access Point/Router and wireless clients as far away as possible from the offending devices.
Switch to a 900MHz cordless phone
Use a directional antenna on your Access Point/Router and position the offending devices in the antenna's dead zone. You'll also, of course, need to make sure your wireless clients are in the antenna's working radiation area.
