What's the difference between Short and Long Preamble?

Thepreamble is part of the IEEE 802.11b physical layer specification, and specifically, part of the Physical Layer Convergence Protocol (PLCP).All 802.11b devices must support the long preamble format, but may optionally support the short preamble.

If your device supports the short preamble and you are having trouble getting it to communicate with other 802.11b devices, make sure that it is set to use the long preamble.
