Our unprecedented testing shows one clear winner if you want to change your wireless adapter

Linksys today announced the first of its Ultra RangePlus wireless networking products.

The Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT600N) and Dual-Band Wireless-N Notebook Adapter (WPC600N) are 802.11n Draft 2.0 Wi-Fi Certified and operate in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. The WRT600N has two radios for simultaneous dual-band coverage. Both products are based on Broadcom Intensi-Fi draft 11n chipsets.

Broadcom today announced what it says is the world's first full-featured, single-chip 802.11n solution.

The Broadcom BCM4322 combines all of the elements of a wireless LAN subsystem onto a single silicon die, including 802.11 MAC, baseband processor, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios and other WLAN components. Broadcom claims that the device can deliver " over 200 Mbps of actual wireless throughput".

Broadcom today announced two new single-chip solutions aimed at wireless headset applications that support Bluetooth Version 2.0 with EDR. The duo support Broadcom's SmartAudio sound enhancement technology and are upgradeable to Bluetooth Version 2.1.

The BCM2047 is targeted at premium headset products and includes an integrated ARM AudioDE based digital signal processor for premium sound quality. The DSP can handle stereo SBC, MP3 and AAC compression algorithms.

The BCM2044 is intended for basic audio headsets that don't require extensive feature programmability. The ROM-based, single-chip device has the same low-power radio and audio architecture as the BCM2047 and also integrates a power management unit including "comprehensive" safety circuitry.

Dell has released a 52 MB patch for its affected drivers: The company lists a wide array of adapters including Dell Wireless 1350, 1370, 1390, 1450, and 1500, and the TrueMobile 1300 and 1400 series of mini-PCI and PC Cards. That's one huge download to replace what's apparently not a ton of code. But it must include all the associated software that runs the system, too, as well as every patch for every device.
