Linksys today announced a network camera aimed at small business surveillance applications. The WVC2300 Wireless-G Business Internet Video Camera with Audio is a AC-powered " box-type camera" supporting Ethernet and 802.11g wireless network connectivity.

The WVC2300 has a maximum 640x480 (VGA) resolution and 30 FPS frame rate and dual codecs (MPEG-4 and MJPEG) that can be used simultaneously. The camera uses a progressive scan CCD sensor with low-light sensitivity for image capture in low light environments or "near dark" conditions. An IR Cut Filter is also provided, which, when used with a separate infra-red lamp, allows video capture in total darkness.

Linksys WVC2300 Wireless-G Business Internet Video Camera with AudioIP Multicast, RTSP, RTP, and 3GPP protocols support video access from multiple endpoints and client applications such as 3G phones, PCs or WiFi phones.

The camera has two input and two output ports that can be used to connect the camera to an alarm panel, siren, Passive InfraRed (PIR) sensors, smoke detectors, lighting switch, door sensors, or other detectors. Motion detection with email event notification is also supported as well as remote access and control via a secure (HTTPS) web interface.

Other features include a removable CS-mount lens, industry standard Pan-Tilt (PT) base mount, 2-way Audio, embedded Microphone, external speaker and microphone ports, and voice compression.

The WVC2300 is available immediately for around $400 estimated street price.
