Bill Meade's Build a Cheap and Fast RAID 5 NAS How To has continued to be one of our most popular articles, even though now it's almost two years old. But with the price of ready-to-buy RAID5 1 TB NASes as low as $500, does it still make sense to roll your own?

If you've built your own RAID 5 NAS, post a comment, or send an email to comments@smallnetbuilder.com and tell me the components you used, how much it cost and why you did it instead of buying an off-the-shelf NAS. If you've got pictures, send 'em in, too.

If I get enough responses, I'll pull the best ones into an article. Thanks!
