Last month, we reported that D-Link's troubled DIR-855 dual-band draft 802.11n router was once again delayed from reappearing on store shelves, this time due to component (un)availability. We just received an update from D-Link on the situation. We found that D-Link apparently needed to find a substitute component, because D-Link said that the 855 is currently undergoing FCC Certification testing for a new revision of the product. According to D-Link, the "official" word on the resumption of shipments is now June. Anyone want to take bets as to whether they make that date? In related news, Linksys has dropped the price on its dual-band, dual-radio WRT-600N [reviewed] draft 802.11n router to around $160 street. This puts it within striking distance of dual-band single radio routers such as Apple's Airport Extreme and D-Link's DGL-4500. Comments (6)
