Synology today announced three new high-performance SATA NAS Servers that offer up to 4TB capacity and claim 49MB/sec RAID 5 reads, and up to 30MB/sec RAID 5 writes.
All three products feature "green" designs with 8W CPU power consumption (hard drive power consumption is not included in this figure). The NASes support JBOD and RAID 0, 1 and 5 modes and use Synology's recently-released Disk Station Manager 2.0 NAS management software, which includes video surveillance recording and playback with IP cameras. The DS508 will ship in June with an MSRP of $1,029.95. The RS408 and RS408RP will ship in July at MSRPs of $1,499.95 and $1,799.95, respectively.
