Updated QNAP Systems yesterday announced a new 1U, 4-bay rack-mountable NAS server. The TS-409U is Linux-based with a Marvell 5281 500MHz SoC CPU and 512MB of DDRII memory. It supports RAID 0/ 1/ 5/ 6/ 5+spare and online RAID capacity expansion and level migration. Other features include support for CIFS/SMB, AFP, and NFS filesystems, print and FTP servers and full LAMP server capability with both MySQL and SQLite databases. Media services include UPnP AV, iTunes, photo sharing and download client for BitTorrent, HTTP and FTP. The TS-409U is available now at an MSRP of $799. QNAP also announced that its TS-109 II, TS-209 II, and TS-409 NASes have been certified by BitTorrent for P2P file sharing.
