Belkin yesterday made a round of introductions of new networking products, all scheduled to start shipments in October.
MSRP's are $119.99 for the router and $99.99 for the adapter. The company also unveiled a line of HomePlug powerline networking adapters. The Powerline AV+ is HomePlug AV certified and supports a 200 Mbps raw data rate. It has a built-in three port 10/100 switch and can plug directly into a wall outlet or via a line cord. Also introduced were the Powerline AV, a single port version of the AV+, and Powerline adapter. The Powerline has a single 10/100 Ethernet port and is HomePlug 1.0 plus Turbo compliant, supporting an 85 Mbps raw data rate. The products are available as two-adapter "starter kits" at MSRP's of $179.99, $149.99 and $99.99 for the AV+, AV and Powerline products repsectively. The AV+ Starter kit includes one AV+ and one AV adapter. The other starter kits include two of the same adapters. Belkin also introduced its FlyWire wireless HD extender. The Flywire comes in two models: the Flywire, which is said to offer "whole-home" range; and the FlyWire R1, intended for "in-room" use.
Both models use an unspecified 5 GHz technology and come with a matching receiver, remote control, IR receiver and blaster and HDMI cables. Both models have three HDMI , two component and one composite video input. The receiver output is HDMI only. Supported resolutions range from 480i to 1080p.
