Israeli semiconductor company Celeno Communications today announced a wireless chipset that it claims can support up to four concurrent, different HD streams with "whole-home coverage while maintaining wire-like quality of experience". The CL1300 WiFi System on a Chip uses Celeno's patent-pending "OptimizAIR" technology, which is built around standard 802.11 PHY and MAC layers. Proprietary enhancements at the PHY, MAC, Networking and Application networking layers are said to support a range of "over 50 meters through multiple walls and ceilings with enough throughput for 4 HD streams and with no packets loss or visual artifacts". The company said that the CL1300 "also demonstrates superior performance with third party client chipsets, 802.11a/b/g or 802.11n and even with very low-cost single antenna client designs". Celenos new CL1300 technology will debut next week at IBC Amsterdam. The CL1300 and various reference designs are now available and shipping. Cisco will also demonstrate at IBC applications enabled by Celenos WiFi technology.
