Thecus Announces Seven Bay Atom NAS

Thecus logo Updated – Thecus has announced an Intel Atom-based seven-bay NAS.

Thecus says the N7510 is the last member of its "Vision" family that includes the the 2-bay N2800, 4-bay N4800 and N4510U and 5-bay N5550.

Its hardware platform is based on an Intel D2700 "Cedar View" Atom with 2 GB of RAM and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting failover and link aggregation.

Other ports include two USB 3.0, four USB 2.0, one eSATA, one VGA, one HDMI and MIC input, audio line input and audio output.

The N7510 runs Thecus OS 5.0 with features including McAfee anti-virus protection, VMware Ready certification, iSCSI thin provisioning and support for DropBox, ElephantDrive and Amazon S3 cloud backup.

The company said the new NAS "will offer lots of power and lots of storage capacity without spending lots of money", but neglected to provide pricing and availability.

MSRP will be $675 when the product starts shipping at the end of September.
