CES 2014 logoUpdated – Buffalo announced new NASes, AC routers and a wireless hard drive for CES 2014.

New LinkStations

The LinkStation 200 Series includes aggressively-priced single and dual-drive models designed for home users in capacities up to 4 TB (maximum RAID 1 capacity for the dual-drive). Setup doesn’t require a CD, so can be done from any device with a web browser.

Features includes UPnP / DLNA and iTunes servers, integrated BitTorrent downloader, USB 2.0 port for storage expansion or printer sharing and Apple Time Machine support for MacOS backup and five licenses of NovaBACKUP Professional for Windows backup.

Buffalo’s WebAccess service allows users to create a free personal cloud for remote access from an web browser or iOS and Android apps.

Both LinkStations carry a three-year limited warranty and start shipping in Q2. Models are pricing are:

  • LinkStation 210: MSRP of $169.99 for the 2 TB (LS210D0201), $209.99 for the 3 TB (LS201D0301) and $259.99 for the 4 TB (LS210D0401).
  • LinkStation 220: $239.99 for the 2 TB (LS220D0202), $329.99 for the 4 TB (LS220D0402), $439.99 for the 6 TB (LS220D0602) and $549.99 for the 8 TB (LS220D0802).

NVR

The LinkStation 420 NVR is Buffalo’s first video surveillance product. It includes Axis’ Camera Companion with embedded support for up to eight HD Axis cameras.

The 420 NVR comes pre-configured in RAID 1 with two "specially designed NAS Edition hard drives" designed for 24x7x365 recording, providing increased reliability and longevity.

The AXIS Camera Companion supports both live viewing and recorded content management and features "one-click" configuration of Axis IP cameras.

The LinkStation 420 NVR will be available in Q2 at an estimated MSRP of $399.99 for the 2 TB (LS420D0202S), $499.99 for the 4 TB (LS420D0402S) and $749.99 for the 8 TB (LS420D0802S).

Routers

The WXR-1900DHP AirStation Extreme AC 1900 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router is Buffalo’s first AC1900 class router. It’s a 3×3 design built around a 1 GHz dual-core processor supporting maximum link rates of 1300 Mbps in 5 GHz and 600 Mbps in 2.4 when used with clients that support these rates.

Features include Gigabit WAN (1) and switched LAN (4) ports, "Priority Control QoS" that automatically prioritizes multimedia and gaming traffic and one each USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports for storage and printer sharing. Also included are Norton web filtering and parental control by Symantec and a Wi-Fi Settings Transfer function that allows users upgrading from an older WPS router to keep their existing Wi-Fi profile and settings.

The WXR-1900DHP will be available in Q2 at an estimated MSRP of $199.99.

For buyers who want an AC router for less than $100, the WHR-1166D AirStation AC 1200 Dual Band Wireless Router will be available in Q2 listing for $89.99.

It supports maximum link rates of 867 Mbps in 5 GHz and 300 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and has a Gigabit WAN but its four switched LAN ports are, oddly, only 10/100. But there are no USB ports for storage and printer sharing. It does include Norton ConnectSafe web filtering and parental control by Symantec for safe web access.

For AC wireless on the go, the WMR-433 AirStation AC433 Wireless Travel Router is a compact, selectable dual-band USB-powered router supporting link rates up to 433 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 150 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band.

It supports routing using its 10/100 Ethernet port for WAN connection. It doesn’t support hotspot mode (sharing a wireless connection as WAN). It starts shipping Q2 at an estimated MSRP of $59.99.

Wireless Drive

Wrapping up Buffalo’s announcements is the MiniStation Air Wireless Portable Hard Drive (HDW-PD1.0U3). It’s a 1 TB drive with built in wireless N150 class AP (2.4 GHz only) and ten hour battery. It charges the battery through a USB 2.0 port or can charge devices from the internal battery from the port, too. A separate USB 3.0 port can be used for quick cabled transfers to the drive.

The built-in wireless hotspot supports up to eight simultaneous connections and there’s a built in DLNA server for streaming support to DLNA devices or free iOS and Android apps.

The MiniStation Air is coming in March for $199.99 MSRP.
