LaCie Refreshes Two Bay NAS

LaCie logoLaCie has announced a faster version of its two-bay NAS.

The updated 2big NAS is equipped with a 2 GHz ARM CPU and 256 MB of RAM. LaCie says the new 2big can support 100 MB/s reads and 55 MB/s writes (Intel NASPT Read test: 4HD video playback; Write test: HD video record).

Two hot-swappable bays support up to 3 TB 3.5" SATA drives that can be configured in a single RAID 0 or 1 volume. Single eSATA and USB 2.0 ports can be used to attach drives for backup or storage expansion or share a USB printer.

File sharing is supported via SMB, AFP, FTP, SFTP and NFS while file web access is supported via HTTP / HTTPS.

Backup modes include client to NAS, NAS to DAS, NAS to NAS and Apple Time Machine support. Other features include built in iTunes and UPnP AV / DLNA media serving, web photo viewing and audio streaming, iSCSI target and BitTorrent downloading.

The new 2big is shipping now in diskless and 6 TB configurations at MSRPs of $299 and $649, respectively.
