Synology Adds Four-Bay Hot-Swapper

Synology logoSynology has announced a four-bay NAS with hot-swappable bays.

The DS413 DiskStation is based on a Freescale P1022 processor with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM. Network connection is via one 10/100/1000 Ethernet port.

External drives and printers can be attached via two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 and one eSATA ports.

Its four hot-swappable bays accept 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives up to 4 TB that can be configured in multiple single drive, JBOD, RAID 0, 1, 5, 5+spare and RAID 6 volumes. The DS413 also supports Synology Hybrid RAID, RAID level migration and online volume expansion and optional 256-bit AES folder encryption.

Synology rates the DS413’s Windows large filecopy performance at 81 MB/s write and 111 MB/s read.

Like all Synology NASes, the DS413 runs Synology’s DiskStation Manager OS that includes Synology’s Cloud Station remote file sync feature, ADS integration, ACL support, up to 10 iSCSI targets and iTunes and DLNA media servers.

The DS413 is shipping now at an MSRP of $499.99.
