NETGEAR Intros Sub-$300 UTM

NETGEAR today announced its lowest-cost Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliance yet.

The company said the UTM5 ProSecure Unified Threat Management (UTM) Appliance moves the entry-level street price of its UTM line to below $300 for the hardware and $399 with a one-year subscriptions for web security, email security, support and maintenance.

The UTM5 provides the same features as the more expensive UTM10 and UTM25, but has a less expensive processor designed to handle real time threat scanning for 1-5 recommended, i.e. per-seat licensing is not used, concurrent users vs. 1-15 and 10-30 for the UTM10 and UTM 25. Those features include firewall, SSL and IPSec VPN, URL filtering, network antivirus and antispam.

The ProSecure UTM5 is available immediately.
