BitTorrent today announced the launch of the BitTorrent Entertainment Network. The new network features what the company says is the "most comprehensive library of downloadable digital entertainment ever amassed on the Web".
The BitTorrent community will now have the flexibility to rent movies, purchase television shows and music videos, and publish and share their own high-quality content to be displayed alongside titles from the worlds largest studios.
BitTorrent today announced it has acquired µTorrent, a lightweight and efficient implementation of the BitTorrent protocol. The objective is to combine BitTorrents expertise in networking protocols with µTorrents high-performance design and compelling user interface (UI).
Following the acquisition, patented content delivery innovations made by BitTorrent will be integrated in the µTorrent client in a "seamless" manner. Ultimately, the integration of best-of-breed BitTorrent technology will result in an improved client and an "enhanced user experience".
