Iomega today announced a new rack-mount addition to its NAS product line. The new Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r series is based on Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 running on a Dual-Core Intel Xeon hardware platform packaged in a 1U rackmount format.

Four hot-swappable 7200-RPM SATA II drives can be configured for RAID 0, 1 or 5 and other hardware features include dual gigabit Ethernet connections, ECC memory, and an Ultra 320 SCSI (VHDC1) connection for high-speed archival backup. 250 and 500 GB drives are supported for a total of 1 or 2 GB of storage.

Iomega StorCenter Network Storage Drive

Iomega's StorCenter Network Storage Drive sports a nice feature set, including a built-in UPnP AV server. But Jim Buzbee found that its file system performance while good, doesn't quite live up to the promise implied by its gigabit Ethernet port.

Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 200d/320GB with REV built-in

Iomega's 200d series NAS products are aimed more at the small business than SOHO buyer. Jim Buzbee takes a look at a relatively new member of the 200d family and finds that its premium pricing and Windows Server 2003 core don't necessarily mean a superior user experience.
