Iomega adds dual-drive Terabyte NAS with online storage

The StorCenter ix2 runs EMC’s Linux-based LifeLine software on a hardware platform including a 400MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, dual 7200 RPM SATA drives, gigabit Ethernet LAN port and two USB 2.0 ports for USB print serving and storage expansion. The ix2 comes in 1 and 2 TB models.

The NAS can be equipped with an optional Bluetooth USB adapter to allow users to send pictures, files and address book contacts directly from cell phones. Video surveillance recording is also supported from compatible Axis cameras.

Other features include UPnP AV / DLNA and iTunes media servers, five EMC Retrospect(R) Express client backup licenses (Windows and Mac OS) and remote file storage and access via EMC’s Mozy Online Backup service.

The ix2 will be available at the end of this month at MSRPs of Network Storage appliance $299.99 (1TB) and $479.99 (2TB).
