LaCie today announced updated versions of its single, dual and quad-drive NASes.

The d2 Network 2, 2big Network 2 and 5big Network 2 replace the current versions and are all powered by Marvell’s Kirkwood storage processor.

The new CPU is said to provide 50 MB/s read and 25 MB/s write performance for a RAID 5 volume on the 5big Network 2. All models have Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and the 5big has dual Ethernet ports supporting failover and link aggregation.

The "2" versions also come with a new widget-based admin GUI and can be used as Apple Time Machine backup storage. Other features include iSCSI target support (5big only), Active Directory support, email alerts, user storage quotas, USB direct attachment (2big only) and hot-swappable drives (2big and 5big only).

The d2 Network 2 (1, 1.5 and 2 TB) and 2big Network 2 (2, 3 and 4 TB) are available now at MSRP’s of $229.99 and $399.99 for 1TB and 2 TB versions, respectively. The 5big (2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 TB) will be available in March at an MSRP of $699.99 for the 2.5 TB version. All have three-year warranties.
