NETGEAR Announces New ReadyNAS OS

NETGEAR logoNETGEAR has released an updated NAS OS.

ReadyNAS OS 6.2 brings multiple enhancements to NETGEAR’s ReadyCLOUD personal cloud features, including:

  • Enhanced file backup, sync and sharing among Windows and MacOS desktop and Android and iOS devices
  • Multiple private Time Machine backup targets with individual user quotas
  • Automatic Windows PC and smartphone backup
  • File / folder sharing via web and email links

The new OS also features single-click file version rollback, an improved setup process, share-level "bitrot" protection and a refreshed user interface with focus on usability.

ReadyNAS OS 6.2 will be available as a free download later this week for ReadyNAS 100, 300, 500, 700 desktop and 2120, 3220 and 4220 rackmount models.

and Microsoft have decided to delay shipment of the first product to use Microsoft's Windows Home Server operating system.

An HP spokesperson today said that the company and its partner Microsoft had decided to rework the MSS's software to make it more "user-friendly" to general consumers.
