Multi-Tech Announces Secure SMB Wi-Fi VPN Router

Multi-Tech Systems today announced two wireless routers with PPTP/IPsec VPN endpoint capability. The new RouteFinder SOHO Security Appliances are aimed at branch offices that need secure access to a corporate LAN while providing the convenience of Wi-Fi.

The new appliances combine a stateful packet inspection firewall supporting up to 15 client-to-LAN or LAN-to-LAN IPSec or PPTP VPN tunnels and 3DES / AES encryption with an 802.11b/g Wi-Fi router. Other features include browser-based management, syslog support and built-in 4 port 10/100 switch.

Fabrik Acquires SimpleTech’s Consumer Business

Fabrik, Inc. today announced that it has acquired the consumer product business of SimpleTech, Inc. The purchase also includes the company's flash memory cards, USB flash drives and memory upgrades.

Fabrik has acquired the consumer business unit in a cash transaction valued at approximately $43 million, subject to certain post-closing adjustments, which includes the brand name "SimpleTech."

Netgear adds two gigabit stackable smart switches

Netgear today announced the expansion of its stackable "Smart Switch" line with the launch of the ProSafe 24- and 48-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches (GS724TS and GS748TS).

The ProSafe Gigabit Stackable Smart Switches have 24 or 48 10/100/1000 ports and four shared SFP Gigabit Ethernet fiber ports, plus two dedicated stacking ports. The stacking ports use off-the-shelf HDMI cables and provide a 20 Gbps, dual-ring, stacking bus that enables users to stack up to six switches, or 288 10/100/1000 ports and manage them all under a single IP address.

Motorola today announced that it has completed its acquisition of Netopia, Inc. The transaction has a total equity value of approximately $208 million on a fully-diluted basis.

The company provides a full portfolio of products designed for DSL networks, including wired and wireless modems, routers, and gateways. The company's products deliver voice, video, data, and other advanced services to residential and business customers.
