More QNAP NASes: Home Dual-Core Celerons This Time

QNAP logoQNAP has announced four Celeron-based expandable desktop NASes.

The TS-x51 series, available in 2, 4, 6, 8-bay models, features real-time and offline Full HD video transcoding capabilities and supports video streaming through DLNA, AirPlay and Plex Media Server.

All models feature 2.41 GHz dual-core Intel Celeron processors, 1 GB of DDR3L RAM (expandable up to 8 GB), dual aggregatable Gigabit Ethernet ports, hot-swappable drive bays that accept 2.5" and 3.5" solid state and hard drives and HDMI port.

The two and four-bay models have two each USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, while the six and 8 bay versions add one more USB 3.0 port.

All of these new desktop NASes support storage expansion via the UX-500P 5-drive and UX-800P 8-drive tower expansion enclosures also announced today. They feature five and eight hot-swappable drive bays, respectively, that accept 2.5" and 3.5" solid state and hard drives.

Although all support the full feature set of QNAP’s QTS 4.1 operating system, the TS-X51 series is targeted at home NAS buyers. Features include the previously-mentioned video transcoding and HD streaming capabilities via File Station, Video Station, or the Qfile mobile app and photo and music management via Photo Station and Music Station.

All of this wonderfulness comes at a price, however. The two-bay TS-251 has a $499.99 MSRP, with other models priced as follows:

  • TS-451: 4-bay tower model ($699.99)
  • TS-651: 6-bay tower model ($899.99)
  • TS-851: 8-bay tower model ($999.99)
