QNAP Announces Four-Bay 2.5″ SATA Atom NAS

The SS-439 Pro Turbo NAS uses an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU, has 1GB of DDRII RAM and 3 USB 2.0, 2 eSATA and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports.

The SS-439 Pro supports RAID 0/1/5/6/5+spare configurations with online RAID capacity expansion and level migration. Other features include iSCSI target service for up to 8 devices, AES 256-bit volume encryption, instant SMS and email alerts and secure HTTPs access.

The new NAS also supports media, print and other services common to QNAP’s NAS family.

The SS-439 Pro will be available soon at an MSRP of $699.

Iomega today announced a new rack-mount addition to its NAS product line. The new Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 450r series is based on Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 running on a Dual-Core Intel Xeon hardware platform packaged in a 1U rackmount format.

Four hot-swappable 7200-RPM SATA II drives can be configured for RAID 0, 1 or 5 and other hardware features include dual gigabit Ethernet connections, ECC memory, and an Ultra 320 SCSI (VHDC1) connection for high-speed archival backup. 250 and 500 GB drives are supported for a total of 1 or 2 GB of storage.

Sabio Digital tunes up CM4 NAS

Sabio Digital today announced that it has enhanced its CM4 RAID NAS with FalconStor Software’s DiskSafe Express software.

FalconStor’s DiskSafe Express allows for Bare Metal Recovery (BMR), a process in which users can boot their Windows PCs from the disk image stored on the CM4 in the event of disk failure for a complete recovery of their data "in less than five minutes". Sabio CM4 now includes a single-user license for DiskSafe Express, with additional licenses available for purchase.

Buffalo intros palm-sized Terabyte RAID 1 NAS

Buffalo Technology today announced a new miniature dual-drive NAS with 1 TB capacity.

The LinkStation Mini (LS-WS1.0TGL/R1) measures only 1.57 x 3.22 x 5.31 inches and weighs slightly over a pound. It has a gigabit Ethernet port and dual 5,400RPM 2.5 inch notebook drives and supports both RAID 0 and 1, as well as Active Directory.
