Synology Announces Its Cheapest NAS Yet

Synology logo Synology has announced a sub-$150 single-bay NAS.

The DS115j is the single-bay equivalent of its lowest-priced two bay NAS, the DS214se [reviewed]. It is powered by an 800 MHz Marvell Armada 370 SoC backed by 256 MB of RAM and 8 MB of flash.

Network connection is via a single Gigabit Ethernet port and two USB 2.0 ports support external storage or printers. Its single drive bay accepts 2.5 and 3.5" hard or solid state drives up to 6 TB.

The new NAS supports the full feature set of Synology’s DSM 5.0 OS, including its Cloud, Photo, Video and Audio Station built-in apps and access to all other installable apps.

Other features include DLNA server, Apple Time Machine backup, file Sync to Google Drive, Dropbox, Baidu and other Synology DiskStations, streaming to Samsung Smart TV’s, Google Chromecast and Roku and Apple media streamers.

The DS115j will be available in the U.S. "shortly", listing for a mere $129.99.
