The Live Parental Control service includes filtering for "more than 50" content categories and requires no subscription fee. Installation requires a computer running Windows XP SP2 or Vista.

Once installed, protection is router-based, so all devices behind the router are protected. Management is via web-browser and includes per-user and time-of-day controls.

The Live Parental Controls service is available now on new NETGEAR WNR2000 Wireless-N 300 routers and can be added to currently-installed routers. NETGEAR said it plans to add the feature to "additional select Wireless-N routers and DSL gateways" in "the coming months”.
