The device connects directly to a television or display via VGA, component or composite connections and to a networked Windows Vista, XP SP2, or 2000 SP4 computer via Ethernet or 802.11b/g wireless LAN. It supports both TVs and projectors at 1024x768 screen resolution for still images and 640x480 resolution at up to 30 frames per second for streaming video. Users control the connected computer using the PC-on-TV remote control, which can also be used to control web browsers.

The PC-on-TV supports YouTube videos, Google Video and media players including iTunes, Nero, Windows Media Player and RealPlayer. DirectX applications, however, are not supported.

D-Link is partnering with Veoh Networks to include its VeohTV on the DPG-1200's "portal" landing page. VeohTV offers programming from media companies, as well as independently-produced content available on sites such as YouTube, Google Video, Veoh.com, MySpace and BitTorrent.

The DPG-1200 is available now at street pricing around $190.
