ARCHOS releases 7 inch web tablet / media player

The ARCHOS 7 Internet Media Tablet (IMT) is powered by a 600 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 32 bit processor. It features a 800×480 pixel, 7” TFT LCD touch screen, 128 MB RAM, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and either 160 or 320 GB hard drive. Battery life is said to be "up to 39 hours" for music playback and 10 hours for video.

A custom web browser features integrated Flash 9 support and touch-screen keyboard. The Email client supports POP3 and IMAP mail as well as any web-based email service. MSN Web messenger is also included.

Video formats supported include MPEG-4 (DVD resolution), WMV and M-JPEG. An optional plug-in adds HD playback support including 720p MPEG-4 and WMV and DVD quality playback for H.264 and MPEG-2.

Supported audio formats include MP3, WMA, WAV, AC3, Flac and OGG Vorbis. Optional plug-ins add support for AAC and AAC+. Other media supported include JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF images and PDF.

The ARCHOS 7 IMT is available now at MSRPs of $449.99 for the 160GB model and $549.99 for the 320GB model.
