D-Link DIR-855 Getting Closer?

But don’t get too excited, because nothing for the DIR-855 has shown up in the FCC database yet, which is required before a product can ship in the U.S.

The good news is that D-Link is shipping a dual-band router. The single-radio DGL-4500 [related story] was not only announced just two weeks ago, but is even in stores. Go figure!

Still no sign of companion dual-band Draft 11n adapters, though, in any format. As a matter of fact, the only available dual-band notebook adapters using Atheros XSPAN chipsets are in Japan. Wonder if Atheros has some sort of problem with its client-side dual-band draft 11n chipset?

D-Link says DIR-855 will ship…really!

While arranging my DGL-4500 review sample with D-Link, I asked them about the rumors that the long-delayed DIR-855 has been placed on "indefinite hold". D-Link told me that the product is still alive and that the target ship date is now "end of year 07 or early year 08".
