Wi-LAN announced on Friday that it has reached an agreement with Intel to settle all patent litigation.

Wi-LAN’s announcement said Intel will take a "multi-year license" to WiLAN’s patent portfolio and make a "series of payments" to WiLAN.

According to this DowJones report, Wi-LAN Chief Executive Jim Skippen said he could not say how much money Intel will pay Wi-LAN, but he did say that it is a "significant amount."

In recent years, Wi-LAN has become an infamous patent troll, filing suit against many large companies, allegedly to protect its patent portfolio, as its primary business model.

Bandwidth for both radios can be combined to provide 70 Mbps throughput for "fat" point-to-point backhaul links or for high-resolution video surveillance networks. The radios can also be set to deliver a sustained 35 Mbps bandwidth across an unlimited number of hops if a multi-hop or linear network topology is required.
