Atheros today announced two single-chip 802.11n products targeted at home gateway designs for service providers.

The new dual-band, 2.4GHz/5GHz, AR9220 and single-band, 2.4GHz AR9223 PCI devices flesh out Atheros’ single-chip draft 11n lineup, which includes the dual-band AR9280 and single-band AR9281 PCI Express (PCIe) devices announced last month.

Both of the new chips feature 2 Tx, 2 Rx MIMO, in contrast to their PCIe siblings. The AR9280 dual-band PCIe device is 2×2, but the AR9281 single-band product is 1×2.

The Atheros AR9220 and AR9223 will be sampling to customers next month. Pricing was not given.
