D-Link logo D-Link is shipping its orb-like AC1900 adapter.

D-Link came through on its Q2 ship promise of its DWA-192 AC1900 USB adapter announced at CES 2015. The thing isn’t really that portable and looks like a mini Death Star, as evidenced below.

But at least it can be used with more devices than ASUS’ PCE-AC68U, which has been the only AC1900 adapter game in town for way too long.

It will support link rates up to 600 Mbps in 2.4 GHz and 1300 Mbps in 5 GHz when used with AC1900 or higher class routers and supports WPA / WPA2 security and Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Connection is via USB 3.0, so it’s not made for connecting multiple devices like wireless bridges are. Drivers are available only for Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1.
