Netgear adds 3G “femtocell” home router

The Ubiquisys ZoneGate femtocell is a UMTS with HSDPA 3G access point that uses a mobile subscriber’s broadband connection to transport voice and data calls to the core network. This allows provide mobile operators to deliver both wired and wireless broadband connectivity to home networks.

The gateway also supports SIP and several popular codecs and TR-069 Remote Management.

Evaluation units are available now for operator testing, with commercial availability expected during the first half of 2008. Pricing was not given.
