D-Link revs managed security service Print E-mail

D-Link yesterday introduced a new version of its managed security service.

The SecureSpot 2.0 Managed Security Service will initially be integrated with the DIR-625 Draft 802.11n router, with additional products to be added later.

The SecureSpot 2.0 Service uses a web-based security console to communicate with the router, networked home devices and back-end security service provided by managed service partner Bsecure Technologies. The graphic web console discovers and protects new devices as the network grows, including guest computers, media centers, Microsoft Xbox 360s, Nintendo Wiis, Sony PSPs and other consumer networked devices.

When a device is added to the network, the console detects and loads a "very" thin client application that includes McAfee's Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware engines, to protect computers from malware, ID theft and pop ups both within the network and while on the road.

Pricing is $60 annually for 3 Windows or Mac OS systems, with licenses for additional PCs at $20 each. More information is available at securespot.dlink.com.
