Updated – Thecus has added a new version of its 8 bay 2U rackmount business NAS.

The N8900PRO steps up to a 3.4 GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E3-1275 processor paired with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM that’s upgradeable to 32 GB total.

Eight hot-swappable bays support up to SATA III or SAS 6G 3.5" drives that can be configured into multiple ext3, ext4, Btrfs and XFS formatted RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 or JBOD volumes with optional AES-256 bit encryption. Storage can be expanded to 576 TB of total raw capacity using SAS daisy-chaining with iSCSI thin provisioning.
