Meraki has announced two new cloud-managed routers.

The MX series is designed for branch-office deployment and features cloud-based centralized management for multi-site networks, automatic security, signature and feature upgrades, and network-wide monitoring.

The MX50 has a single Gigabit WAN port and four switched Gigabit LAN ports, while the MX70 has the same LAN configuration but dual Gigabit WAN ports. The MX50 supports 20 site-to-site IPsec tunnels and four VLANs while the MX70 supports 100 VPN tunnels and 32 VLANs.

Features include browser-based management, Layer 7 application firewall and traffic shaper, DHCP serving, user and device quarantine, content filtering, network access control and anti-virus and anti-phishing. Features are divided into "Enterprise" and "Advanced Security" editions that provide basic routing and traffic shaping and site-to-site VPN, respectively.

The MX routers are available through a pay-as-you-go pricing program with an annual subscription and no upfront hardware costs. Subscriptions start at $35/month, which includes hardware, software licenses, ongoing upgrades, maintenance and support.
