IDrive Adds Photo Backup to iPhone App

IDrive upgraded its iPhone Application today to add cloud photo sync, along with some other copy-cat features.

In the wake of rumors that Apple will add Photo synchronization to its MobileMe product, many services have added this functionality to their cloud offering. Yesterday saw Funambol updating to include the same feature, and IDrive has added it as well.

Originally, IDrive’s iPhone App only included contact backups. In addition to photos, location tracking per contact is another new feature. This is an opt-in service very similar to Google’s Latitude where the app updates IDrive’s server with your current position. You can then allow certain contacts to view your position, assuming they also have the IDrive App.

IDrive’s App functionality requires an IDrive Lite account. You can read about IDrive Lite and the IDrive app more on the IDrive Website. We recently reviewed IDrive’s product lineup, which you can read more about here.
