Going back to our roots

Tim Higgins

So, now we have, what I think, is the best and only site dedicated to SMB and SOHO networking reviews, news, and information. Tim has worked hard on creating a site that is designed cleanly, and easy to navigate. Everything from the CMS to the reviews bear Tim’s stamp, and TGP is very honored to be partnering with Tim.

I hope that everyone who was familiar with Tom’s Networking with come to appreciate the improvements in the new design and direction of Small Net Builder. But, at the end of the day, it is all about the content, and there is no doubt that Tim Higgins is the best at the what he does. He won’t ever acknowledge these comments: he is far too modest for that. I am just very excited to be here for the launch, and to be among the first people to bookmark it as a go to destination in my daily trawls across the Web.

Draft 11n getting neighborly

Updated with corrections from Bill McFarland 1/29/07

In both private discussions and during the Intel draft 11n chipset webcast, I have been hearing hints about 11n's "bad neighbor" problem having been addressed in draft 1.10. I was able to get Atheros' CTO, Bill McFarland on the phone to bring me up to speed on what actually got into the 1.10 draft. Note that some of these mechanisms were being debated back when Draft 1.0 was being finalized. But since consensus couldn't be reached, the 11n task force punted and didn't include any of them in 1.0.
