Funambol Announces MediaHub For Media Sharing

Funambol has announced a new media sharing service to complement its existing contacts and photo synchronization services.

Funambol’s new media sync and sharing service is a white-label option for enterprise customers who want to deploy synchronization services and brand them as their own.

Unlike most services, Funambol does not mine the data gathered when syncing items. This is very different from providers like Google and Facebook who use the data to enhance their marketing strategies.

Funambol plans to allow media to synchronize similar to its current implementation with Photos. If given the option, videos for example could be shared automatically onto Facebook. Funambol’s hope is that carriers will use MediaHub to gain the trust of customers and rely on the carrier for storing all their media in the cloud.

Funambol will be officially launching MediaHub at this year’s Mobile World Congress. The full press release is available on Funambol’s website. We recently reviewed Funambol’s MyFunambol Portal, and found it to work as advertised if a little short on space.
