New features in the 6.0 client include a "mobile dashboard" to set up AIM forwarding of instant messages to the user’s cell phone, an expanded Buddy List feature handling up to 1,000 buddies and "offline messaging" enabling offline users to receive a message when they log back on.

Other new features are: Conversation Logging, which allows AIM users to log and save text-based IM conversations; AIM Buddy Updates, which allows AIM users to inform their buddies via RSS feeds when they have updated their accounts with YouTube, Digg, and other services; a new Away Message Center, for improved online status management and an enhanced IM window.

The new AIM 6.0 service also features integration with AIM Pages, AOL’s social networking service, which launched in limited beta in May. Starting today, all AIM users now have an AIM Page that can be easily accessed from the main AIM client window.

Users running Windows 2000 or XP can download AIM 6.0 free of charge now at http://www.aim.com.
