ZyXEL Announces Smart Gigabit Switch Family

ZyXEL logoZyXEL has announced a line of smart Gigabit Ethernet switches.

The GS1900 series of Web-managed, smart Gigabit Ethernet switches includes 8, 16 and 24 port switches, some with PoE+ support.

All models feature auto MDI/MDI-X ports with 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), dual-stack IPv6 support and fanless design.

The new line features setup wizards for startup, VLAN, QoS and Link Aggregation configuration to help managed switch novices avoid frustrating configuration errors.

Other common features include:

  • 802.3ad link aggregation
  • Port-based VLANs, 802.1Q VLAN tagging, guest VLAN and voiceVLAN
  • 802.1p Class of Service (CoS) priority control
  • Port-based CoS
  • 802.3x storm control
  • 802.1x port security and Layer 2 MAC filtering

The 8 port GS1900-8HP, 24 port GS1900-24HP and 48 port GS1900-48HP support 802.3at PoE+ ports with up to 30W power. A consumption mode feature reserves the actual required power automatically and allows setting power consumption priorities on different ports to optimize use of power resources.
