The remote access feature provides secure access via web browser to user-selected files and folders on the ix2. The service is provided by TZO.com and includes a year of free access via an Iomega-branded domain name and $9.95 per year after. Custom domain names are available for an additional charge.

Other features include BitTorrent downloading, folder quotas and support for Ethernet jumbo frames and Apple File Protocol (AFP).

The improvements are shipping now in new 1 and 2 TB StorCenter ix2s and available as a free firmware upgrade.
