The ReadyNAS NVX uses an Intel "advanced embedded processor" and has 1 GB of DDR2 SODIMM RAM, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with load balancing and failover and three USB 2.0 ports for storage expansion, attached backup, print serving and UPS shutdown synchronization. NETGEAR says the NVX has "double the performance" of its current NV+ four-bay ReadyNAS.

New features include iSCSI target and Apple Time Machine support as well as "cloud" backup via NETGEAR’s recently-announced ReadyNAS Vault service powered by ElephantDrive.

The NVX supports the standard ReadyNAS feature set, which includes its proprietary Flex-RAID volume management, SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS network file systems, FTP and secure FTP, rsync and secure rsync and Active Directory / NT Domain support.

The NVX is available now in 2 TB (RNDX4210) and 4 TB (RNDX4410) configurations at street prices as low as $1365 and $1900, respectively.
