Synology DS210jSynology has announced a new "budget-friendly" dual-drive NAS.

The Disk Station DS210j has a hardware platform including an 800 MHz Marvell Kirkwood CPU, 128 MB of DDRII RAM, Gigabit LAN port and 3 USB 2.0 ports. It does not have eSATA ports.

It accepts two 3.5" SATA drives (up to 2 TB) and can also use 2.5" SATA drives using an optional disk holder.

The DS210j runs Synology's DSM 2.2 OS, which provides a rich feature set including automated backup, DLNA / UPnP AV and iTunes media streaming, photo sharing, LAMP webserving, IP camera recording and Apple Time Machine support.

The DS210j is shipping now and available in diskless, 1 TB (DS210j 2050 w/ two 500GB HDD) and 2 TB models (DS210j 2100 w/ two 1.0TB HDD). Street prices for the BYOD version start around $230.
