QNAP Announces 5 bay D510 Atom Desktop NAS

QNAP today announced a 5-bay desktop Atom D510-powered NAS.

The TS-559 Pro has 1 GB of DDR2 RAM and supports up to 10TB of storage using up to five 2.5" or 3.5" hot-swappable SATA drives.

Features include RAID 0/1/5/5+ hot spare/6, and JBOD volume types with online RAID capacity expansion, online RAID level migration and RAID recovery. Other features include 256-bit AES volume level encryption, 5 USB ports, two e-SATA ports and dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports supporting failover and aggregation.

The 559 Pro runs version 3.2 of QNAP’s OS with features including VMware vSphere4 (ESX 4.0) compatibility, iSCSI with SPC-3 Persistent Reservation, MPIO and MC/S support, DFS, IPv6, WebDAV and Apple Time Machine backup.

The TS-559 Pro is available now at street pricing around $1100.
