ASUSTOR Launches 7 Series NASes

ASUSTOR logoASUSTOR has announced two business-class Core i3 NASes.

The eight-bay AS7008T and 10-bay AS7010T are based on 3.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i3-4330 processors with 2 GB of SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM expandable to a maximum of 16GB.

Ports include dual aggregatable Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, two eSATA and one HDMI. A PCIe expansion slot also can be optionally equipped with a 10GbE card and there is an IR receiver and S/PDIF port for multimedia applications.

Both models accept 2.5" and 3.5" hard and solid state drives configurable in multiple individual, JBOD and RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 volumes with support for online RAID expansion and level migration. Both are certified Citrix ready with VMware and Hyper-V certifications in process.

The new NASes run ASUSTOR’s ADM 2.3 operating system with new features including support for TFTP, SMB 2.0 and proxy server connection, multiple data protection mechanisms and Windows ACL advanced file permissions management.

The AS7008T and AS7010T carry a three-year limited warranty and start shipping in October at MSRPs of $1619 and $1919 respectively.

SMC announces first RAID NASes

SMC today announced the first of its TigerStore SMB NAS Storage Servers. The SMCNAS04 is a BYOD NAS with four SATA drive slots to accommodate up to 3TB of storage. The same chassis is also available as the SMCNAS24 with four 250GB drives.

Both products support RAID 0, 1, 4, and 5, with "future options" for JBOD and BIG. Features include drive hot-swappability, integrated four port gigabit switch and three USB 2.0 ports for drive expansion, printer connection or connection to USB-enabled UPSes.
