Iomega has announced three USB 3.0 SSD drives.

The pocket-sized 1.8-inch external USB 3.0 SSD Flash drives will be available early next month in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256GB capacities. Iomega says the drives perform twice as fast as USB 3.0 7200 RPM SATA hard drives.

Features include a metal case for 10 foot drop protection, 256-bit hardware encryption, bundled anti-virus and backup software, and three-year warranty (with product registration). The drives require no external power supply and can be connected to USB 2.0 ports at reduced speed.

Pricing is 64GB for $229.00, 128GB for $399.00, and 256GB for $749.00 (MSRP).
