QNAP Adds D525 Atom NAS Trio

QNAP has announced three Intel D525 Atom based NASes.

The TS-x59 Pro II family includes the 4-drive TS-459 Pro II, 5-drive TS-559 Pro II and the 6-drive TS-659 Pro II.

All are powered by a dual-core Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz processor with 1 GB of DDRIII RAM that is expandable to 3 GB. The new series also supports SATA 6Gb/s internal hard drives and external USB 3.0 drives.

All models feature hot-swappable drives and support single drive and JBOD volumes as well as RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, 6+ hot spare, 10+ hot spare (TS-459 Pro II does not support 10+ hot spare) with online RAID capacity expansion and RAID level migration.

Other hardware features include dual Gigabit LAN ports with failover and load-balancing, two USB 3.0, four USB 2.0 and two e-SATA ports.

The new models ship with new V3.4 of QNAP’s OS with an extensive feature set including file and media serving, real-time remote replication and backup and iSCSI initiator and target support. All are VMware-ready, Citrix-ready, and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V compliant.

The TS-459 Pro II, TS-559 Pro II and TS-659 Pro II all begin shipments next month. Pricing was not announced.
