QNAP And ZyXEL Announce 10 GbE NAS, Switch Package

QNAP logoQNAP and ZyXEL have buddied-up on a couple of specially-priced 10 GbE NAS bundles.

The first "Performance Pack" bundle mates ZyXEL’s 24-port XGS1910-24 10G web-smart switch and QNAP’s 8-bay TS-870U-RP for under $3,000.

The "Premium Pack" kit has ZyXEL’s XGS1910-48 48-port 10G switch and QNAP’s 12-bay TS-1270U-RP for under $4,000.

The XGS1900 series include 24 and 48 port 10G Web smart switches (XGS1910-24/48). The XGS1910-24 (48) switch comes with 2 (4) enhanced small form-factor SFP+ ports for 10G uplinks and / or stacking.

Both NASes are powered by a 2.4 GHz dual-core Intel processor mated with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM that is expandable to 16 GB.

NETGEAR buying Infrant

NETGEAR today announced that it has agreed to purchase privately-held networked storage appliance maker Infrant Technologies.

Under the terms of the agreement, NETGEAR will pay $60 million in cash for Infrant. Infrant shareholders may receive a total additional payout of up to $20 million in cash over the three years following closure of the acquisition if specific revenue targets are reached.

The acquisition is subject to various standard closing conditions and is expected to close in the second quarter. Following completion of the transaction, Infrant's President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Tien will become NETGEAR's Vice President and General Manager for storage products.
