QNAP logoQNAP has announced a new five bay NAS.

The 5-bay TS-563 Turbo NAS runs on an 2.0 GHz 64 bit AMD Embedded G-Series quad-core SoC processor with 2 or 8 GB of DDR3 RAM upgradable to 16 GB. Five hot-swappable SATA 6 Gbps bays support 2.5" and 3.5" hard or solid state drives

Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports can be optionally expanded to 4 x 1GbE ports or 2 x 1GbE + 2 x 10GbE ports using a built-in PCIe expansion slot and five USB 3.0 ports support drives, printers or UPS shutdown sync.

Other features include AES-NI hardware-accelerated encryption, SSD cache acceleration and AMD-V virtualization. QNAP says the TS-563 supports sequential read performance over 1,421 MB/s with AES-256 bit full NAS volume encryption. Four IP camera licenses for Surveillance Station are included.
